Dr. Nefzi has over 25 years experience with the design and the diversity-oriented synthesis of low molecular weight acyclic and heterocyclic natural product-like and existing drug-like combinatorial libraries from modified peptides for the use in therapeutic applications. His work has bee supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) , the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the National Institute of Aging (NIA).
Work in Dr. Adel Nefzi’s laboratory is focused the design and synthesis of small molecules and heterocyclic combinatorial libraries. As well as mixture-based chemical libraries for identification of highly active antimicrobial compounds, potent analgesic, and novel anti-tumor agents. Dr. Nefzi has chemical collections of peptides, peptidomimetics and low molecular weight heterocyclic compounds.
