Overview

Dr. Thapa Magar is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Kim Lab at Center for Translational Science of Florida International University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Pokhara University, Nepal, and an MS-PhD degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Yeungnam University, South Korea. His doctoral work focused on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of heterocyclic small molecules as topoisomerase-targeted antiproliferative agents. He worked as a Medicinal Chemist at Daegu Cancer Center, the R&D unit of Dongsung Biopharmaceuticals, South Korea, where he was involved in the development of potential Photosensitizers (PS) for anticancer Photodynamic Therapy (PDT). His current research focuses on the design and synthesis of macrocyclic peptide epoxyketones as a potential immunoproteasome (iP) catalytic subunit LMP2 inhibitor for treating Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).

Research Interests

Design, synthesis, and development of small molecules as a novel drug candidate for treating cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
